Mitch Goodwin

Owner, Director, Head Coach
Mitch Goodwin is the Founder and Director of GW Hoops and a Kelowna Secondary School graduate. He played five seasons with the UBC Okanagan Men’s Varsity Team before transitioning into coaching, where he has spent two years as the Lead Assistant Coach for the UBCO Men’s program. Mitch holds his NCCP Level 3 Certification and has become a recognized leader in athlete development across the Okanagan.
In 2025, he was named the Kelowna Chamber of Commerce Young Entrepreneur of the Year, and he will serve as the Basketball Coordinator for the 2026 BC Summer Games. Mitch’s passion lies in building pathways for youth athletes and creating inclusive, community-driven basketball programs.
Dani Arseneault

Head Coach, Operations Manager
Dani Arseneault serves as both a Head Coach and the Operations Manager for GW Hoops. She was the BC Summer Games 3x3 Head Coach in 2024 and is currently enrolled in the Sports Management Program at Mount Royal University. Dani has her NCCP level 2 certification. Dani combines strong organizational leadership with a passion for developing young athletes, playing a key role in both program delivery and behind-the-scenes operations.
Keaton Souster

Head Coach
Keaton Souster brings extensive experience as a member of the UBCO Men’s Varsity Team, where he developed a reputation for his leadership, work ethic, and basketball IQ. He will serve as the BC Summer Games Sport Chair for Basketball in 2026, supporting coach and athlete coordination across the province. Keaton is a committed teacher of the game and a key part of GW Hoops’ high-performance coaching staff.
Japleen Chahal

Head Coach, Lead Trainer
Japleen Chahal is a dynamic coach and trainer with a strong background in player development. She is a current member of the Okanagan College Women’s Basketball Team and is completing her NCCP Level 2 Certification. Known for her high-energy approach, attention to detail, and ability to connect with athletes of all ages, Japleen leads both skill-development sessions and team programming within GW Hoops.
Harry Parmar

Coach Parmar has been passionate about basketball for the past 25 years! Growing up playing in his small town community, he has gone on to coach a variety of age levels in both school and club programs. Dedicated to building winning teams, Coach Parmar has been with the Senior Boys AAAA team at KSS in Kelowna since 2008—a team that has reached the provincials almost every year!
In an amazing feat, his team was the first from outside the lower mainland to win the Championship in over seventy years—an accomplishment that Coach Parmar is immensely proud of. The success of his teams have helped several players move on to play University basketball all around Canada as well as parts of the US, some even making national teams and playing professionally!
Coach Parmar is thrilled to now be part of Mitch and GW Hoops; this season is sure to be a great one!
Pete Guarasci

Pete has played and coached at the international and professional levels. He has coached USport at MacEwan, Simon Fraser University, University of Alberta. and UBC-Okanagan. He has also coached with Team Canada at the Under-19 Championships and spent several years with Canada's National Junior team.
During his playing days, he was twice named MVP and All-American at Simon Fraser. He spent ten years with Canada's Men's National Team including appearances at the 1995 World University Games, the 1998 World Basketball Championships and the 2000 Summer Olympics in Australia.The rest of his considerable basketball background includes 12 years playing top-level professional basketball in Italy, Spain and Germany.

Darren Semeniuk

A second-generation member of the Semeniuk family, a name that is synonymous with basketball in the Central Okanagan, Darren had a stellar university career winning a National Championship at the University of Alberta. He has coached at all levels since including a Provincial Championship with the KSS Senior Girls in 2018 and 7 years as the Head Coach of the UBC Okanagan Men’s Program.
Tyler Lutton

Head Coach
Tyler Lutton brings more than a decade of playing and coaching experience to GW Hoops. He played high school basketball for Killarney and Pinetree, helping Pinetree finish 5th in B.C. as the team’s starting point guard in 2006. Tyler went on to play at UBC Okanagan, followed by a successful stint at Douglas College, where he helped lead the team to a National Championship. He finished his collegiate career at the CIS level with the Acadia Axemen.
Tyler is known for his deep knowledge of the game, attention to detail, and the enthusiasm he brings to every session.
Mavleen Chahal

Head Coach
Mavleen Chahal is a standout athlete and emerging coach who currently plays on the Varsity Women’s Basketball Team at Trinity Western University. She has also represented the province as a Team BC member, bringing high-level playing experience and leadership to every training environment. Mavleen’s positive energy, strong fundamentals, and ability to connect with younger athletes make her a valued member of the GW Hoops coaching team.
Renee Byrne

Head Coach
Renee Byrne is a former athlete with the University of Alberta Women’s Varsity Team and has experience representing Canada with the Canada Junior National Team. Off the court, Renee works as a Youth Justice Counsellor with Arc Programs, bringing a unique blend of mentorship, leadership, and athlete-centered guidance to her coaching. Her ability to teach both technical skill and character sets her apart within the program.
