Winter League
The GW Winter League is our flagship winter basketball program, designed to give athletes a consistent team environment with weekly competition, quality coaching, and meaningful development throughout the season.
Teams are led by GW Directors with support from experienced community coaches, creating a structured environment where athletes can compete, grow, and build confidence. The season features weekly league games, individual and team awards, and concludes with a championship tournament.
Our goal is to create a winter league that feels competitive and exciting for athletes while still keeping development, relationships, and the overall player experience at the centre of the program.

Athletes will be evaluated and placed onto teams following the evaluation session.

The season will conclude with the GW Winter League Championship Tournament, giving teams the opportunity to compete for the league title and finish the season in a tournament-style environment.

Practice and game times will be determined by team placement. Athletes will be assigned to either the 4:00 PM or 5:00 PM time slot once teams are finalized.
Families should be available for either scheduled time. If your family has a significant scheduling conflict, please let us know during registration. We will do our best to accommodate requests where possible, but specific time slots cannot be guaranteed.

Designed to Complement the School Season
The Grade 8 GW Winter League is specifically designed to supplement the Grade 8 school basketball season.
There are no additional team practices as part of this league. Instead, athletes get an opportunity to play additional competitive games, gain valuable game repetitions, and continue their development without adding another practice commitment or creating unnecessary conflicts with their school basketball schedule.

Girls Winter Academy | Grades 8–12
The GW Girls Winter Academy is designed for athletes who want additional skill development throughout their school basketball season without adding another team commitment.

Each week, athletes will have the flexibility to choose how they use the session. Players can participate in a coach-led skill development workout or use the gym space to focus independently on areas of their game they want to improve.
The academy provides a consistent weekly environment for athletes to get extra reps, refine their skills, and continue investing in their individual development throughout the winter season.
Whether an athlete wants structured instruction or dedicated gym time to work on specific parts of her game, the Winter Academy gives her the space and opportunity to keep getting better alongside other committed female athletes.

Built for More Game Opportunities
The Grade 9/10 GW Winter League is designed to give athletes consistent weekly game opportunities throughout the high school season.
This division is a great fit for players who may not be playing on their school team, are seeing limited game minutes, whose school team has a lighter game or tournament schedule, or who simply want more opportunities to compete.
With weekly games, athletes can gain valuable game repetitions, build confidence, stay in a competitive environment, and continue developing throughout the winter.
